Presidential Address on the Signing of The Balanced Budget Act
Karl Freitag·

My fellow Americans, Today is a momentous day for our journey towards solving the debt crisis. The Balanced Budget Act has been signed into law, and we have immediately managed to reverse our fortunes in terms of the deficit. I have been informed that our $1.4 trillion deficit prior to the signing of the bill has been transformatively reversed, and that we are now running a surplus of $1.8 trillion. This is a wonderful step forward in tackling our debt. I urge Congress to sustain our high surplus in order to pay down our debts and associated interests and steer our country away from default. It remains to be seen on whether the present situation will hold. I will hold on to my hope of ensuring America's recovery from the debt crisis. The sales tax may not be kind, but it is what is needed. Thank you, and long live America.
